Reiss Head of Buying/Product Development Required

Reiss the fashion company beloved by Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, are looking for a Head of Buying/Product Development to take a dynamic approach to trading the collection, and to maximising sales.


You will deliver a balanced and commercial collection for the U.K and Rest of World. A collection that excites the DNA Reiss customer as well as attracts a new customer to the Brand. Identify and deliver new product and sales opportunities for retail and online. And bring a dynamic and urgent approach to trading the collection and to maximising sales.

Key responsibilities.

Head of Buying.

Role.

Planning.

Option planning with the merchandisers pre-season for the UK and ROW.
Identifying areas of growth and plan the options and budget accordingly e.g. knitwear, boots
Working directly with the design team to ensure they are designing to the range plan.
Managing the design critical path to ensure the deadlines are always met.
Ensuring the line sheets and pyramid sheets are up to date.

Product.

Responsible for the balance of the line - end use, price, colour etc.
Responsible for delivering exclusives collections - JL, Selfridges, Bloomingdales, Franchise and Online.
Managing the pricing architecture and developing product that allows the production team to achieve the margin targets.
Attending fit sessions - ensuring comments from the buy meeting have been followed.
Approving lab dips and trims.

Trading.

Analysing sales in store, online and ROW - reacting to best and worse sellers with speed and clarity.
Opportunity seeking e.g why is womenswear under indexing v's menswear in the Midlands and the North and what are we doing to rectify.

Product Development and Production 

Role.

Support the design process upfront by developing trims, hangers, techniques, embellishments etc
Manage the supplier base and send the right product to the right factory
Manage the sample critical path from design sketches to buying samples
Understand how garments are costed and negotiate the best price and margin
Key responsibilities

Product Development.

Working closely with design and buying upfront developing the ingredients of the collection, ensuring they cost and are production viable e.g. embellishment hangers, hardware for bags, footwear lasts, fabric developments etc
Identifying opportunities to improve the product and margin e.g. better linings backed in volume for a better price
Issuing and progressing lab dips.

Supplier Management.

Build stronger relationships with our good suppliers and manage underperforming suppliers.
Introduce new suppliers and territories who can improve the product and margin
Ensure the product is being sent to the right supplier and manage business levels across the supplier base.

Sample management.

Hand over design sketches to suppliers ensuring all of the information is clear and accurate.
Responsible for product trackers and getting the samples in on time, in the right fabrics and colours

Price.

Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the department margin without compromising the product.
Challenge the prices with a clear understanding of how a garment is costed. Know what the CM of each product group is and if we are being over charged.
Work with Design and Buying to identity opportunities to consolidate fabrics in order to achieve better prices.
