Balmain Paris Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear S/S 2018

Olivier Rousteing has been designing costumes for the Paris Opera Ballet and added tutus to his Balmain collection for S/S 2018. And although we're not all ballerinas this felt like a collection accessible to all. The way he has used fabric to create shapes, twisting and turning them into ruffles and flounces. And his sequin adorned pieces were just gorgeous. These are the pieces that after dark was made for. The crystals, feathers, fringes and tassels added more adornment to Olivier's already heavily embellished designs. But there were dungaree designs in there and what can be more utility that those. Of course Balmain design isn't really utility wear, and the silhouette is the famous Bodycon. And here Olivier didn't disappoint with punked up see-through pieces and pvc style leathers. With a little tricolor and gold added to the monochrome palette, but still being faithful to the black and white Breton stripes, it's safe to say that the fishing net leather caught every excess of the show in the beautiful Paris Opera.
