Unforgettable Film Review

I caught Unforgettable last week, a female centred movie directed by Denise Di Novi, and starring Rosario Dawson and Katherine Heigl.

The gorgeous Rosario played Julia, leaving her San Francisco publishing job to be with her new partner, handsome business man David, played by Geoff Stults.

Julia finds herself stepmum to David's young daughter Lily, played by pretty little Isabella Kai Rice, with Katherine Heigl the ex-wife Tessa. And not adapting very well to being divorced and seeing her ex with a new woman.

The film starts with Julia in custody for the murder of her abusive ex-partner, who she is accused of having been in contact with. And sending him her panties and a watch. Allegations Julia denies.

I hadn't seen Katherine Heigl in this type of role before. She normally plays the funny romantic lead. I wondered whether her perfect, beautifully put together Tessa was modelled on the beautiful and perfect Ivanka. It takes a lot of effort and money to achieve this level of glossiness. Tessa used to be a hot shot lawyer but now is a mother who brunches. With Cheryl Ladd popping up as Tessa's mother. A little like Monica Geller's mother in Friends. Continually interfering and with impossibly high standards.

A stylish little thriller.
