Jorn Utzon Ahm House For Sale Harpenden Hertfordshire

Easter is traditionally the time we think about moving house. And this one is very special. Ahm House designed in 1962 by Danish architect Jorn Utzon. Who famously designed the Sydney Opera House. It has been described as “Probably the best Modern house in the world”. And this marvel could actually be yours. It's incredible.

With six bedrooms and almost 4,500 sqft it has extensive and secluded gardens tucked away in Hertfordshire.

Like Peter Chadwick I love brutalist design which this house has in spades. But this house also has the softer elements of the Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style, Robie House.

The living room is divided from the dining area by a minimal set of shallow steps. And an enclosed kitchen overlooks the dining area. On this floor are four of the bedrooms, a bathroom, shower room and utility room.

Beyond the entrance hall on the ground floor is a library leading to a further accommodation wing. This incorporates a fifth bedroom and an impressive master bedroom suite. That includes a large dressing room with bespoke wardrobes, a bathroom, sauna and the bedroom itself with double doors out onto the garden.

You cannot put a price on this sort of architectural history gem.

But if you must then be prepared to pay £3,500,000 at The Modern House.

If you do decide to buy it I would love a tour.
