Elle Magazine UK Editor Vacancy

Required by Hearst Magazines at Elle UK.

Role summary:
To create and execute a compelling editorial proposition for the ELLE brand that appeals to both consumers and advertisers and delivers on ELLE’s business goals.

To be an external ambassador for both the ELLE  brand and for Hearst UK.

To create a working environment where ideas are nurtured and realised and individuals skills are developed for the success of the business.

To be responsible for the content, structure, tone, art direction of the magazine.

Critical Performance Areas:

•    Deliver consistent editorial excellence across all platforms in line with the ELLE brand strategy.
•    Make our consumer’s life fulfilling, enjoyable and stimulating at every touch point.
•    Discover and nurture high quality content producers across all disciplines and platforms.
•    Constantly seek out and respond to feedback from our consumers, team members, management, advertisers and external parties.
•    Investigate and develop existing and new content ideas to generate new and profitable revenue sources.
•    Build on existing franchises and create new ones in conjunction with the Group Publishing Director.
•    Build relationships with the international Editors of ELLE to further increase the power and influence, efficiencies and success of the ELLE brand.
•    Support the Workflow Director to deliver an effective and efficient workflow, through editorial systems.
•    Ensure everyone associated with ELLE understands the brand strategy how they are required to deliver against this.
•    Work with the Group Publishing Director and the advertising teams to creatively promote ELLE to clients and advertising agencies to achieve the brand’s commercial objectives.
•    Promote ELLE through media and public appearances, through working with commercial and communication departments, and through consumer involvement to maximise brand awareness and engagement.
•    Grow our digital presence and help our consumers talk and interact with us, their friends, their favourite retailers and with featured advertisers as often and as seamlessly as possible.
•    Ensure that production deadlines are met in accordance with agreed schedules and that expenditure is within agreed budgets.
•    Work closely with the brand licensing partner (Lagardere) ensuring alignment with brand ethos and rules.
•    Work with international Elle Editors on content creation and shared content initiatives.

Skills, Experience and Attributes:

•    Charismatic, visionary individual with strong creative voice.
•    Influential and high profile in the luxury/fashion media with strong relationships and contacts with key clients and advertisers.
•    Successful track record as Editor or Deputy Editor/ Fashion Director delivering editorial excellence for a luxury/ fashion brand.
•    Strong leadership skills with experience leading, motivating and developing creative teams.
•    Ability to convey strong creative vision for ELLE.
•    Strong commercial skills and approach.
•    Budget management experience.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills.
