Alexander McQueen Paris Ready-to-Wear A/W 2017/18

Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen delves into the myths and legends of the UK and weaves their mystery into her designs. For Autumn she explores Cornwall. Incorporating the ribbons of a Cloutie wishing tree the team found into tweeds, and embroidering gowns like stained-glass windows. The collection had a Medieval style with the long belts imagining Rowena and Rachel of Ivanhoe. The stitching in the sleeves and skirts echoing this long ago period. And the final three gowns were like the designs found on pewter and silver. Slightly incongruous was the black and grey suiting. But they will be the pieces to wear every day. And wish for an event to wear the gowns.
