Miles Ahead The Film Review

I saw Don Cheadle today acting and directing the Miles Davis inspired movie Miles Ahead.

I didn't know his back story so it was all fresh and new. The story is harsh. With drugs, institutional racism and a dysfunctional marriage to Francis played by gorgeous Emayatzy Corinealdi. But there were also lighter, comedic moments and music that makes you want to sink into smooth silk.

Ewan McGregor plays a freelancer hoping for a scoop on the Howard Hughes of jazz as he describes him. But he gets more than he bargained for in the trippy world of Miles. And I mean the filming too. We were looking through a kaleidoscope of colour.

Set design was terrific. Miles had the cool Tulip chairs and table. And you know we love that design. Costumes were outrageous and equally as cool.

The 2016 Oscars were criticised for their lack of diversity. But today Don Cheadle in my opinion just booked his Best Actor seat at the very least. Has an African American ever been nominated for Best Director before? He's definitely not in Kansas anymore. And Emayatzy Corinealdi her Best Supporting Actress.

A great piece of work.
